Apartment 113 Joins the Chamber of Cannabis

Rob Sanchez

The Las Vegas Chamber of Cannabis is a community-driven organization that is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable cannabis industry. As a new member of the Chamber, Apartment 113 is proud to support their mission to foster resources and connections, advocate for inclusive business opportunities and campaign for the advancement of the diverse cannabis community.

The Chamber's ethos of "We can all Win, Together" is reflected in their objectives, which include collaborating with cannabis businesses and community organizations, changing regulations through legislation and advocacy and increasing the talent pool of skilled leaders. The Chamber's commitment to working with political leaders like Senator Dallas Harris and other regulators on inclusive commerce opportunities is particularly important in light of the industry's constantly evolving landscape.

The objectives of the chamber help to guide and shape the actionable goals of the group:

- Help individuals and businesses collaborate and grow
- Work with political leaders and regulators on inclusive commerce opportunities
- Change regulations through legislation, lobbying and advocacy
- Increase and develop the talent pool of skilled leaders
- Collaborate with cannabis businesses and community organizations that align with the mission

The altruism is authentic here folks. With meetings twice a month that take place in Vegas and a slew of political lobbying days and community events, the Chamber of Cannabis is pushing hard to erase years of stigma while educating businesses, lawmakers and consumers on the industry. They have a weekly newsletter going out with info about the industry in and outside of Nevada as well.

The next event hosted by the Chamber of Cannabis will be on April 6th featuring Ricky Williams who will be discussing his brand, Highsman, and more with members and the community as a whole. Then on the 10th of April, the chamber is going on the road out to Carson City, Nevada for a Legislative Rally Day to meet with representatives and ask them to sign sensible cannabis policies. These are the three items of importance being discussed on the 10th:

First, a bill to double the daily purchase & possession limit in Nevada to further open the commerce and business opportunities for citizens in the state and of course those traveling to the strip and other Las Vegas attractions. It would help to mitigate the unlicensed market without adding a need for additional enforcement.

Second, a push is being made to allow ex-offenders to work in the industry to increase equality among the employees and people that can work legally in the industry by allowing them to join the cannabis industry to become contributing members of society.

Last but not least, a descheduling conversation is in the works to deschedule cannabis in Nevada. This would move cannabis from the pharmacy control board to the Cannabis Control Board in the state of Nevada.

AB 170: Reduction of possession penalties for cannabis concentrates for juveniles and those 18-20.
SB 195: Revisions to how the Cannabis Control Board exercises its authority over operators, creates procedural protections and limits certain fines.

The Chamber will be heading to MJ Unpacked in NYC after this, which takes place April 26-28th. For more information on the Chamber of Cannabis, check out their website and subscribe to their newsletter. The President, Tina Ulman, and Vice President of the organization, Dani Baranowski, will be on a future episode of Apartment 113 podcast to talk shop and explain more. Both women are hard at work for the industry, building the chamber and establishing multiple brands to provide high quality cannabis products and awareness that resonates with their consumers.

Overall, the Las Vegas Chamber of Cannabis is an important organization for anyone involved in the cannabis industry. Their commitment to inclusivity, advocacy and education is helping to shape the future of the industry in positive ways, and their events and resources are invaluable for those looking to participate and make a difference.
