We’re joined today by Shawn Pastian, better known as Barefoot Hash — a soil builder, organic grower, hashishin, educator and co-founder of Big Green Pharm in Dillwyn, Virginia. Shawn’s journey with cannabis began as personal curiosity and evolved into a lifelong calling centered on cultivation, education and healing.

After years immersed in Southern Oregon’s multigenerational cannabis culture, he honed his craft as a high-quality hash maker and teacher dedicated to preserving the art and integrity of solventless extraction. Through Barefoot Hash, he approaches hash making as an art form, blending intuition, science and deep respect for the plant. At Big Green Pharm, he’s continuing that mission while developing Oil-Can, his cannabis root-based pain salve, and creating a community space for workshops, events and connection.

In this episode we talk about regenerative growing, the spiritual and medicinal sides of cannabis, and what it means to live in rhythm with the plant. Shawn’s story is rooted in authenticity and a deep love for the land — the kind of passion that reminds us why we fell in love with this industry in the first place.
