Desert Haze, Cured Resin Crumble - baseline_

I could find very little information about this specific Desert Haze cultivar. It is most likely a Haze phenotype or may indeed be a different Haze cultivar under a more “Las Vegas” name. I reached out to baseline_ to ask about it.

I found this store description for Desert Haze, “Desert Haze is an Indica that relaxes both body and mind. This strain has green and purple-hued buds that are coated in thick trichomes. Desert Haze is uplifting, calming, and reported by users to have a long-lasting and tranquil high that helps keep stress and anxiety at bay.”

Haze, in general, has many pseudonyms like OG Haze, Haze and more. It’s also crossed with other cultivars to make different strains like Tangerine Haze, Old Mendo Haze, Blue Haze, Super Lemon Haze and many many more.

The Haze strain is created by two brothers and has Landrace origins. It traces back to the early 1970s in California. David Watson (Sam the Skunkman) eventually joined the brothers in their work and acquired some of the original Haze genetics. David carried the torch to Amsterdam and worked with Neville Schoemakers who eventually started the seed bank, Sensi Seeds, which led to the proliferation of Haze and the Haze crosses we know of today.

There’s a fresh, spicy sweetness associated with Haze that is very discernible. The various crosses nowadays, of course, may alter the scent or add to it, but there’s something unique about the cultivar.

My sample was a hydrocarbon extraction where the butane was allowed to evaporate at a slightly higher temperature to create Crumble aka Budder.

A nice aroma jumps out of the container upon opening that can only be described as slicing up a bunch of ripe mangos next to a Christmas tree. There’s a Terpinolene pop of mango with piney notes; the two seem to be spiraling in a fight for dominance. The flavor was subtle and brought a little of the aroma but not much. There was a more earthy floral taste vs the sweet/pine of the aroma.

I was using my Puffco Peak Pro to take pretty small dabs and enjoyed this concentrate after long days of work and found it to be relatively balanced across the board. The effects don’t last too long which may be related to the age of the sample or the source material (cured trim or cured buds). This one can be ideal for quick sessions or maybe less than ideal if you’re trying to chill for a few hours.
